I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

This Gabriola Island waterfront home with a million-dollar view was hiding some real potential behind extraneous walls and old finishes.

The main living space, full of skylights and windows, was partitioned into small kitchen, dining and living spaces … that is, until the walls came down!

The post-renovation space welcomes you from the front entry into the main living space featuring one of the most beautiful views on the island. The public areas of the home flow seamlessly, and the private areas envelope you in their coziness.

The main bedroom, bathrooms and laundry room had walls moved to create a better functionality and more clearly defined spaces. These changes provided the opportunity to include some stunning tile and fixture finishes in the redone bathrooms.

The custom Arbutus cabinetry in the kitchen features a fourteen-foot island topped with rich granite that is mirrored on the facing countertops and backsplash for a fresh new finish. Jatobá flooring was a perfect choice to replace the worn carpet and to compliment the multitude of wood throughout which was stained to match the rich cherry hue.

The overall effect of the re-designed interior brings to mind ‘phoenix out of the ashes’.
