Rural Modern

This island home was completed over a four-year span to accommodate a ‘his and hers’ design model. The two phases integrate via a courtyard patio anchored by a timber-covered entryway and surrounded by rocks and trees. The use of Galvalume® siding and a metal roof facilitate a low maintenance exterior that has kept this habitat shining like new despite its 20-year age.

Inside, the trinary design of the tall windows maximizes the natural attributes of the landscape and creates artistic panels of trees and skyline. A radiant-heated concrete floor, polished and coloured terra cotta, is a warm complement to the wood-beamed ceiling. The fireplace was built from four monolithic stones naturally placed to harmonize with the outside rockwork.

The timeless appeal of this home is a combination of the low maintenance material used and a functional design that takes advantage of featuring the beauty in situ.
